Kubernetes v1.36: More Drivers, New Features, and the Next Era of DRA
Kubernetes v1.36 introduces feature graduations, usability improvements, and new capabilities for Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA), expanding support for hardware accelerators, memory, and CPU, and adding features like Prioritized list, Extended resource support, Partitionable devices, and Device taints. These upgrades improve scheduling flexibility, cluster utilization, and resource allocation. Cluster administrators can now define fallback preferences, request resources via traditional extended resources, and dynamically carve physical hardware into smaller instances. This release marks a significant step towards a more robust, hardware-agnostic infrastructure.
