MCP Just Killed the Handshake (Your Server Is Next)

The MCP protocol has finalized a spec change that drops the initialize handshake and Mcp-Session-Id header, allowing connections to route to any instance behind a load balancer. This change removes the need for sticky routes and shared state stores, making MCP more like a standard web service. Engineers should update their servers to use the Mcp-Method header and migrate tasks to the Tasks extension. The Tasks API, Roots, Sampling, and Logging are deprecated, but will remain supported for 12 months. OAuth 2.1 is now mandatory for authentication.
