AliExpress fined almost $630 million over illegal product sales
AliExpress has been fined €550 million for violating Europe's Digital Services Act by failing to prevent illegal and counterfeit products from being sold on its platform. This is a significant penalty, more than double the fine given to Temu for similar violations. The European Commission found that AliExpress didn't take adequate measures to verify products and remove unsafe items. This highlights the importance of e-commerce platforms taking responsibility for the products sold on their sites. AliExpress will need to review and improve its processes to prevent similar issues in the future.
