The author discovered a common issue in projects with slow release cadence: contributors often target the wrong branch when opening pull requests. To avoid this, run a command to check recent merges and their target branches. If unsure, read CONTRIBUTING.md or ask in the issue thread. This issue is not unique to the drizzle team or project.
