AI for Military Support

AI decision-support systems in military targeting are being studied for their impact on combat decisions. Contrary to fears of automation bias, the study found that humans tend to distrust AI recommendations, especially in high-risk situations. However, integrating 'explainable AI' features can improve trust and decision-making. This research challenges assumptions about the role of AI in warfare and highlights the importance of human agency. The findings have implications for the integration of AI in military decision-making.
