Apple brings encrypted RCS chats to iPhone

Apple has added end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging to iOS 26.5, allowing encrypted conversations with Android users through the Messages app. This means Apple and Google can't see messages while they're sent. A lock icon and 'Encrypted' message will be displayed in the chat to note when encryption is in use. Encryption will be on by default and automatically enabled for new and existing RCS conversations. This update enhances user privacy and security.
