YouTube is making it harder to earn money on YouTube

YouTube is increasing its monetization requirements for creators, starting February 1st, 2027. The new requirements include 1,000 subscribers and 8,000 watch hours or 20 million Shorts views. This change affects creators who want to earn money through the Partner Program (YPP). Creators will also need to maintain 10 million Shorts views to earn from the Shorts Creators Pool. This change may impact smaller creators' ability to monetize their channels.
